paul minton at City2SurfMy involvement in the City to Surf began in 1979 after seeing an article in a magazine here in Melbourne. Since then I have done 31 Runs including 24 straight. In November 1979 I was hit by a car and received serious injuries; my left leg was broken so was my ankle.

I was told my running days where over while in hospital but I refused to accept this and got myself up again by walking and lots of physio. I made the 1980┬áCity to Surf start and without this race I don’t think I would have recovered so quickly. In 1982 I had a left knee reconstruction.

I again used the City to Surf as motivation to get up and running. I was so happy to be at the 1983 starting line again and since ’89 I have not missed a run, including 2010 when I had a right knee replacement at Easter and again used the City to Surf as a motivation to get up and get going again.

Last year I broke my ankle and tore a ligament in my left knee. I am over the ankle really well and I am receiving physio on my knee to again get to the starting line in 2014 if I can.

Over the years, the City2Surf has been a constant motivation in my life. I hope I can keep being in it as long as I can.

Cheers for now,
